Why study music at LCC?

Our faculty are world class artist-teachers. Our faculty are world class artist-teachers, seasoned performers with decades of experience teaching. And, they’re pretty great people! Check out our Meet the Faculty page to get to know them better. And, with small class sizes that allow for more individual attention, you’ll get more out of your time at LCC.

You’ll save money starting at LCC. The average cost for a full-time student is less than half that of most other colleges in the area (only 30% the total cost for an in-district student to attend LCC vs MSU), so you won’t have to break the bank to attend. Check out our tuition and cost comparison here.

Performance opportunities are plentiful! You can perform with your peers in a variety of ways in our Rock Band, Concert Choir, Jazz Band, Multi-Instrumental Music Ensemble and Musical Theatre Performance class. Each year features master classes by guest musicians as well which gives you opportunity to hear from experts in the field in addition to an opportunity to perform.

You can find success after graduation. Our students in the Music AA program have successfully transferred to virtually every college in the state of Michigan, and many have gone to conservatories out of state as well, receiving scholarship money along the way. We also have graduates from our contemporary music degrees who have released their own albums and found success as independent musicians, producers, and recording engineers.
